Common Flash Errors


Many students and educators will encounter alert messages about the need to update or enable Adobe Flash. These alerts are caused by changes made by web browsers, such as Google Chrome. They can interfere with the use of i-Ready and any other educational programs that use Adobe Flash.


Please follow these step-by-step instructions to ensure that your students and teachers can access i-Ready.




Flash is Blocked:



Instructions:


  1. Enter the following into the address bar:
    chrome://settings
  2. At the bottom, click Advanced.
  3. Under “Privacy and security,” click Content settings.
  4. Go to the “Flash” setting.
  5. Across from “Allow,” click ADD.
  6. Enter [*.]i-ready.com and click ADD.





Flash is Outdated:



Instructions:


The Flash version on a Chromebook is tied in to OS updates and cannot be updated separately. If the version falls too far behind the current version, it may block Flash for safety reasons. Updating the Chromebook OS will also update Flash.


  1. To update the Chromebook OS, open the Chrome browser and enter the following into the address bar:
    chrome://settings/help
  2. Click CHECK FOR UPDATES.


Note: You may need to contact your District IT administrator if they have blocked Chromebook updates.





Oops!
